Hello Parents!
We are very excited to be working with you and your child this
year! Below is some important information to start the year off right.
Bell Times (Grades 1-6):
Monday-Thursday Entry Time: 9:10am
Monday-Thursday Lunch Time: 12:15-1:00pm
Monday-Thursday Dismissal Time: 3:45pm
Friday Entry Time: 9:10am
Friday Lunch Time: 11:39-12:09pm
Friday Early Dismissal Time: 1:30pm
Snack/Lunch:
Please pack a nutritious snack for
your child each day. The children will be eating a quick snack in the
classroom. Please send your child a snack that is easy to open and can be eaten
independently (eg. Granola bar, cut up fruit/veggies...). You know your child
best, so please send enough healthy food to keep your child sustained for a
full day of school. Please make sure your child’s lunches and snacks are NUT
FREE!
We encourage students to bring
their own water bottle and we ask that students try to bring it home each day
to get washed. Please send a non-spill water bottle that is clearly
labeled with your child’s name. Students
will only be allowed to drink water during snack time. Juice boxes will be kept
for lunch.
Indoor Shoes:
Please send a pair of appropriate
indoor running shoes that will remain at the school for the whole year.
Please provide shoes that your child can put on and take off independently
and label them with their name. If you are sending your child with shoes that
have laces they MUST know how to tie their shoes themselves.
Label:
Please label all of your child’s
belongings. This way if they get lost they will be easier to locate.
Home Reading:
Grade one is a very exciting year
where children begin their journey to becoming readers and writers. We will be
starting a Home Reading Program as it is important to read with your child each
day. More information will be sent in the coming weeks.
Library:
Students will be visiting the
library independently throughout the week. Students will have an
orientation with Mrs. Kruger the librarian within the first few weeks of
school. The school will provide an extra large ziploc bag to carry their
library books to school, so that they will be kept safe and clean.
Pick Up/Drop Off:
Outside supervision begins at
8:55am. Please do not drop your child off earlier than this time.
The Grade 1 doors will be the East glass doors by the parking lot, the doors just
over from the Kindergarten entry door.
Dismissal is at 3:45pm
Monday-Thursday and at 1:30pm on Fridays. Students will be dismissed at
the same glass doors that they use to enter in the morning. If you know
you will be late please let the office know.
If you will have a different meeting place other than the glass doors
please let your child’s teacher know and make sure your child knows. Students
are NOT allowed to go through the front doors before and after school unless
they are late in the morning. If your child is late, they must check in at the
office before coming to the classroom. If you are dropping your child off
late, sign in at the office, say your goodbyes, and have your child
independently walk to the classroom.
Communication:
Students will be bringing home a communication book in a mail
folder. This communication book will go back and forth between school and
home. Students will record important information in this book. Students will only be provided with one
folder to use for the entire year. If this folder gets lost/damaged
students will be expected to replace this on their own. If you have any comments or questions you can
write it in the communication book. Please return daily.
You are welcome to call or email with any concerns. Email is
the best way to communicate with your child’s teacher and we will respond as
soon as we can. Here are the teacher emails:
